If you need to reinstall vCollection, you can recover your old data via the File > Import from Backup menu. A dialog window will prompt you to locate one of the vCollection.vcl backup files, which should be in Documents or My Documents (on Windows), which is the default backup location (see screenshot below). If, in User Settings, you specified a different folder for automatic backups (see previous chapter), your last 5 backups should be there (vCollection_1.vcl, vCollection_2.vcl, etc.).

Data recovery can be done via Finder or the desktop by "physically" replacing the current vCollection.vcl file with one of the previously backed up files.
This operation cannot be performed while vCollection is running. Quit the application via the vCollection > Quit vCollection menu or by using the keyboard shortcut Cmd+Q (macOS) or Ctrl+Q (Windows).
1. First, locate the backup file vCollection_x.vcl (the x should be a number from 1 to 5). The backup files should be in Documents or in the folder defined in vCollection's settings (see previous chapter).
2. Locate the vCollection application folder on your computer. It should be in Applications on macOS or in Program Files (x86) on Windows.
3. Open the vCollection folder by double-clicking on it (see screenshot below).
4. Inside this folder, you will find a file named vCollection.vcl. This is the file that contains the data saved in vCollection. This is also the file that needs to be replaced with the backup file.
5. Move vCollection.vcl to the Trash or drag it outside the vCollection folder.
6. Drag or copy-paste the backup file vCollection_x.vcl, located in step 1, into the vCollection folder.
7. IMPORTANT: Rename vCollection_x.vcl to vCollection.vcl so that it is recognized by the application when it is opened. Launch vCollection to find your backed up data.
